Yeah, back at it again. I would not say that Caroline has too much wood on deck however I do believe it is safe to say that when every bit of it requires the attention of sandpaper and varnish it can feel like a daunting task. That said even a rough day on the boat is better than a good day on land so no lost love on my end.
On my initial sailing shakedown (after extensive wiring work) I did a sail around the LA harbor area. This was some time ago but that day the trim line for the foresail wrapped one of my dorade vents and sent it overboard and to the bottom of the harbor. It didnt take long for me to find some replacements but since they are expensive I elected to get some used ones. Continue reading

This is some pretty neat stuff. I have seen it before. I have not however seen the install prior to this and thought I might share it with others. They make several types and there is even a brand specifically for the sole, inside the cabin. This is something I intend to do one day to the sole and engine hatch cover on Caroline. Today has been a sort of interesting day. I managed to get a few things done. For starters I ran the hoses for the the stove/oven. It is not finished. I will still need to build a propane locker for it as well as add an electronic shutoff. However, the way it is, is the way it is for now, and I will install the rest later. Continue reading
